I love Fall.
The changing colors of the leaves set against the gray fall skies seem to make the leaves even more brilliant at both sunrise and sunset. Driving along the hilly landscape in the north at one of those times during the fall is breath taking. If I was still into painting landscapes I would bust out a brush - But I wouldn't do Nature justice.
Last evening I hiked through the woods under a full moon lit sky. Most of the leaves had fallen, but they still glistened on the ground in all of their beautiful red, orange and ochre hues under the light of the moon. Just a hint of chill in the air...just enough to wish for an arm to wrap around another to share a little warmth. And the smell of the dried flowers in the field, just past their prime was still intoxicating. The Peace that crept over me as I crunched through the dried leaves was needed. And then ahead of me...
At the edge of the woods there stood a buck and a doe. Just feet from me. Not scared. Observing me as I was them. With a snort from each they turned and walked slowly and gracefully back into the woods...backs turned to me. No fear. No running. They had each other and I guess I presented no harm to them. It must have been that peaceful Fall trance that I was under.
When you aren't looking for it...sometimes good things come to you...when you least expect it. Savor and cherish those things...those moments...those feelings. They are important and should be held dearly...not to be ignored. Just that moment of peace was all I needed to start my week out right.
I love Fall
